Day 9/ Apollonia – Tirana

Our next stop is the archaeological site of Apollonia, in the Fier region. Inhabited by Illyrian tribes, the former city was colonized in the 4th century BC by Greek settlers from Corinth and Corfu. Apollonia was also a very important city during the Roman period. The Agora, Theatre and its Museum rich in objects are witnesses of the importance of this archaeological site.
It was in this city that the Roman Emperor Octavian Augustus carried out his studies.

City of bright colors, Tirana is nucleus of the country. A visit of the capital with its typical and modern districts will give us a good insight into the history of its evolution, while a walk around Skanderbeg square will introduce us to some of the most important buildings. We discover the Bllok district too, formerly the area reserved for the nomenklatura during the communist period, today the area with a lively nightlife.
