Today we will head north of Albania. Shkoder  Kruja, 1h 20min Krujë is a city located at the heights near the Albanian capital. In the 15th century this city was the scene of many battles between the Ottomans and Albanians. The Albanians resisted the Ottomans for 25 years under the command of the Skanderbeg who was then the national hero of the Albanians. We will learn more about this character, one of the most famous in Europe at that time by visiting this city. The old bazaar is well worth a visit. Kruje  Rade, 1h Then we will head in direction of Durres. Before we reach the city, we will have the opportunity to enjoy a delicious lunch at the “Agritourism Huqi” restaurant, a place located in this small paradise in the heart of the village of Rade, near Cape of Rodon. A beautiful place where we will find local grown vegetables and fruits, but above all a relaxing environment, which will immensely satisfy all our senses, especially the taste. Rade  Durres, 20min Departure for the city of Durrës, the second largest city in Albania. Durrës has not put aside its historical and cultural heritage, which dates back to antiquity with its Roman amphitheater, once the largest in the Balkans. Durres, "the Tavern of the Adriatic", was the starting point of the Via Egnatia, the caravan route that once linked the great Rome to Byzantium. This city, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2008, is also known as "the city of a thousand windows". Berat is one of the characteristic cities of Ottoman architecture that has been best preserved in the country. Typical districts with cobbled streets, traditional houses and mountain views give the city a special charm. Departure for Gjirokastër, also known as "stone city". Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005, Gjirokastër is the birthplace of the greatest Albanian writer, Ismail Kadare and, on a less literary note, the hometown of former communist dictator Enver Hoxha. The city is full of typical neighborhoods and shady terraces. Gjirokastër has preserved the picturesque and typical architecture of the old Albanian houses. The Blue Eye is a resurgence of spring water that emerges from the depths at a pressure of nearly 10 m3 per second and gives the impression of forming a blue eye. Surrounded by the forest, this place is a peaceful marvel to recharge one's batteries. Blue Eye  Isak winery, 25min Before we reach Saranda, we will have the opportunity to visit Isak Winery, located in Vrion. This small vineyard will offer us a great experience in tours of wine tasting. Isak Winery  Butrint, 45min The archaeological site of Butrint, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1992, is an ancient open-air city that bears witness to centuries of human occupation, as the Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Venetians and Ottomans successively occupied the site! Moreover, did you know that Racine referred to Butrint in his work Andromache? The Lion Gate is well hidden, but still standing! Butrint  Sarande, 25min Departure for Saranda, a seaside town opposite the island of Corfu. Saranda is fortunate to be located in one of the most beautiful regions of Albania, the Albanian Riviera. This town was known in ancient times as Onhezmi and its small port was a communication bridge between Corfu and the Epirotes tribes. Sarande  Uka Farm, 4h Today we will return to Tirana. Before we reach the capital, we will stop by the UKA Farm in the village of Laknas to experience fresh bio food right from the farm! This is a two acres farm including the restaurant, vineyard and the winery where the family produces the wine. The open-air restaurant is set in the middle of a farm and provides a unique opportunity to taste and enjoy the local products. Uka Farm Tirana, 30min City of bright colors, Tirana is nucleus of the country. A visit of the capital with its typical and modern districts will give us a good insight into the history of its evolution, while a walk around Skanderbeg square will introduce us to some of the most important buildings. We discover the Bllok district too, formerly the area reserved for the nomenklatura during the communist period, today the area with a lively nightlife.
