Day 10: Cave of Pellumbas – Tirana

Departure to reach the village of Pëllumbas and then hike to reach the cave.
The Pellumbas Cave, also known as the Black Cave, is valued by specialists as one of Albania's most valuable archaeological sites. In this cave, we found skeletons, which, according to the confirmation of the Museum of Natural Sciences of the University of Florence, belong to the cave bear (Ursus Speleaus), who lived from 10,000 to 400,000 years ago. The cave is about 360 m long, 10 to 15 m wide and 15 to 45 m high, filled with beautiful stalactites and stalagmites.
Pëllumbas to Tirana, 30 min
City of bright colors, Tirana is nucleus of the country. A visit of the capital with its typical and modern districts will give us a good insight into the history of its evolution, while a walk around Skanderbeg square will introduce us to some of the most important buildings. We discover the Bllok district too, formerly the area reserved for the nomenklatura during the communist period, today the area with a lively nightlife.
